  • 'Box' time is flexible - can be either arranged to fit in with the daily timetable as a regular slot, or used to fit in any extra time available in the course of the day.

  • All children go on to the Box on school entry - the more able go through the programme rapidly, others remain and continue on the programme as long as is necessary.

  • TA time with the Box is structured and does not need daily planning by a teacher.

  • Equally useful for EAL children entering late Infant or Junior classes - a Teaching Assistant can take a new child and the Box and make an immediate start.

  • Boards can be photocopied and sent home to practise for homework - to share knowledge with parents "show your mum what you know" not "ask your mum to teach you".

  • There is a record of progress over time.

  • IEP targets are on the recording booklet cover.
